Ball mill is a type of grinding equipment that uses the rotary cylinder to bring the grinding medium and materials to a certain height and make them squeeze, impact, and grind and peel each other to grind materials. Ball mill is the key equipment for crushing materials after they are crushed. It is widely used in cement, silicate products, new building materials, refractories, chemical fertilizer, ferrous and nonferrous metals mineral processing, powder metallurgy, glass ceramics, and other production. Dry grinding or wet grinding can be carried out for various ores and other grindable materials. 1.What is a Ball Mill?
A ball mill is a type of grinder used to grind, blend and sometimes for mixing of materials for use in mineral dressing processes, paints, pyrotechnics, ceramics and selective laser sintering. It works on the principle of impact and attrition: size reduction is done by impact as the balls drop from near the top of the shell.
2. How a Ball Mill Works?
In case of continuously operated ball mill, the material to be grind is fed from the left through a 60° cone and the product is discharged through a 30° cone to the right. As the shell rotates, the balls are lifted up on the rising side of the shell and then they cascade down (or drop down on to the feed), from near the top of the shell. In doing so, the solid particles in between the balls and ground are reduced in size by impact.
3. What is application of the Ball Mill?
The ball mill is used for grinding materials such as coal, pigments, and feldspar for pottery. Grinding can be carried out either wet or dry but the former is performed at low speed. Blending of explosives is an example of an application for rubber balls.For systems with multiple components, ball milling has been shown to be effective in increasing solid-state chemical reactivity. Additionally, ball milling has been shown effective for production of amorphous materials.

The material enters the mill cabin uniformly through the feeding device through the feeding hollow shaft spirally and uniformly. There is a step liner or a corrugated liner inside the warehouse, which contains steel balls of different specifications. The cylinder rotates to generate centrifugal force to bring the steel balls to a certain height and then fall. , It has a heavy blow and grinding effect on the material. After the material reaches the rough grinding in the first warehouse, it enters the second warehouse through the single-layer partition board. The warehouse is lined with flat liners and steel balls to further grind the materials. The powder is discharged through the unloading grate to complete the grinding operation.
